Yale Women in Economics High School Scholars

We are a non-profit organization that seeks to financially empower young women of color by helping them make better financial decisions starting with college. We help them to apply for college scholarships, teach financial literacy, and professional development skills.

Seed Scholars Program Participant

Yale's Women in Economics (WiE) organization is collaborating 
with Seeds of Fortune Inc.!  

 

Mentors play a critical role in advising and working with our Seed Scholars to complete their capstone projects to present to the Yale University community and beyond.

 

Mentors are committed to working virtually with student participants. Mentors will work with thirty (30) students to complete their group projects.

  • Mentors will help students evaluate group capstone project ideas

  • Explain economic or worldview Concepts 

  • Presentation Creation and Format

  • Learn how to work and communicate in groups

Mentors will be paid a stipend of $3,500 at the end of 9 weeks upon successful completion of student Capstone projects. Mentors will dedicate roughly 25 hours per week to their mentees throughout the summer.

Applicants must be Yale University students to apply.

​

We welcome Yale students from all majors and backgrounds to apply with the application below:​

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Must be a Yale Undergraduate or Grad student

  • Must be familiar with economics and worldview concepts

  • Must be available between Monday, June 5, 2023 - Friday, August 7, 2023

  • Must be able to dedicate 25 hours per week to your mentees

  • Must attend final presentation day (Hybrid)

  • Must be comfortable working In a virtual/remote environment

  • Must have your own computer/laptop with zoom/google meet capabilities

  • Must be familiar with creating presentations via Microsoft Powerpoint, Google Slides, etc.

  • Must be comfortable talking with and leading groups of students
