2021 College Prep Boot Camp 

The Seeds of Fortune college prep boot camp is an amazing opportunity for young scholars to prepare for college and received academic and financial advisement. Through this program, students will obtain financial literacy skills, learn about financial aid, prepare for college, undergo mock interviews, and so much more.

BOOT CAMP RETREAT

TIMELINE/LOCATION

Bus Pickup/Dropoff Location: Public School 33, 281 9th Ave, New York, NY 10001 

Bus Pick Up - Date and Time: Tuesday, August 3 2021 at 10:00 AM 

Bus Drop off - Date and Time: Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 6:00 PM 

Accommodations: The Mansion at Noble Lane 37 Noble Lane Bethany, PA 18431

Materials to Pack:

Plain white t-shirt

- Black or Blue jeans/slacks should be worn to the bus on the day of departure to retreat with comfortable shoes.

- Laptops

Recommendation Pack Lightly - Small suitcase: 

● (2) short sleeve shirt or sweatshirt, sweater, (1) Black or Blue Jeans, appropriate length shorts or Jeggings, (1) Blouses or dress shirt with Cardigan or Blazer, and (1) Dress Slacks/Skirt  

● (1) PJ and (2-4) undergarments AND (1) Bathing Suit  

● Toiletries (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary napkins, Medications, etc.), Flats, and sneakers  

Meals: All Meals included  

SCHOLAR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete Seniors: 5 Scholarship Applications and Juniors: 3 Scholarship Applications 

• Must Apply to 2 internship programs 

• Complete Resume, Business Plan, College application, Yale Women and Economics Research Projects.

Friday. July 30th

Virtual Orientation Begins

Students will start off with an icebreaker and introduce themselves. This will be followed by a lesson on email etiquette, letter of recommendations, college admission offers, and a brief review of the economic research projects.

NYC Business of College

Topics that will be discussed:

- Business of college

- Seed City

- Rich Dad Poor Dad

- Picking the Right School

- Financial Aid

- Scholarships

Sunday. August 1st

Professionalism

Students will start off by learning about organization. As well as SMART goals, community service log, pitching yourself for college, and working on their economic research projects.

Monday. August 2nd

Business Plan Competition Practice

Students will focus on their business plans.

Location: Google Meets

Time: 10 AM - 4 PM

Tuesday. August 3rd

Day 1: Retreat

Students and staff will conduct a series of activities at retreat location. Leisure activities will also be available, such as swimming, bond fires, community bonding, and etc.

Wednesday. August 4th

Day 2: Retreat

This day will be reserved for the business plan competition as well as more leisure and engaging activities for the students to do.

College Application

Main focus:

- College applications

- Writing sessions

Interview Prep

Students will focus on improving and training their interview skills throughout the day. Group interviews and 1-on-1 interviews included.

Economic Research Project Presentations

Economic research groups will take turns presenting. Afterwards, students will undergo more writing sessions.

Writing sessions will be the main focus.
